Venezia and its Gondolas
If you intend to visit Italy, Venice is one of the cities you may wish to spend at least a day exploring. Just a caveat though, make sure you bring a map (old school or google maps), or at the very least, try to remember landmarks. It is so easy to get lost inside the labyrinth of narrow alleys. It was a good thing that we had a local with us to help us navigate the place.
If you have time to spare and money is not an issue, you can explore the place in one of the gondolas. It's really quite interesting and unexpectedly informative. Just like what we did, you can enjoy the ride while listening to your gondolier as he explains to you tidbits about the city and points to famous structures, water marks, etc. It may be a bit pricey, 80-100 euros is definitely not a small amount, but you don't want to see Venice and not BE in Venice, if you know what I mean. In fact, your gondolier would even be happy to sing for you. In Italian, of course. :)
